A new code has been added by the government to help practices cover the cost of chaperones and equipment to do a pelvic exam. Any time you have a pelvic exam in the office you will see a charge of $50 attached to the new code (99459). This will be billed to your insurance company and your particular plan will determine whether it is considered a covered service or not. We do our best to find out for you before your appt if there are charges that your insurance company will expect you to pay directly, but we often don’t know for certain how a new code will be covered until it is billed.
